The Smart Seniors project promotes Erasmus + opportunities for seniors, so they can try out the program and become educated in EU technology and values. Erasmus + can also be an opportunity for seniors to check the European core values and transmit them to the new generations. Alternatively, young people coming from an Erasmus + experience abroad can encourage seniors to do the same.
For these reasons, the project focuses on the foundations of the Union and the common values that characterize EU citizens, such as democracy, participation, solidarity and integration. Differences between EU countries and cultures are reflected in the EU slogan “United in diversity”.
The objectives are:
– increase senior citizens participation to society
– promote the Erasmus+ programme to different age groups
– favour a double direction exchange: from seniors to young people and from young people to seniors
– reinforce the social, civic and cultural roots of the EU
– encourage civic engagement and social responsibility of young people
