Description

Younger generations are the future! Being conscious with environmental sustainability starts in young ages. While the environmental degradation is caused by human activities over the decades, the recent coronavirus pandemic has clearly demonstrated how well our environment does when human destructive activity is reduced. As countries try to open up again, the R-ValuE project takes this opportunity to address the global environmental issues such as the climate change and the circular economy model (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Refuse adverse practices) focusing in the pillar of education. The R-ValuE is an innovative project using a student-led practical approach to promote sustainability in classrooms curricula focusing in primary and secondary school levels. The following EU countries who are involved in the project are: Spain, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Turkey and Cyprus.

Objectives

  • To promote hands-on environmental education and prevention by having students create their own green edu-games, initiating school gardens, growing their own food, making compost, recycling at school and at home, restoring local degraded areas, among other innovative ideas generated by students from 6 EU schools, as well as shared with others, and creating an active learning space for the participants.
  • To initiate social change that forces policies against climate change.
  • To encourage students and teachers from schools in 6 different countries to take active action outside the classroom.
  • To use real student experiences and activities to demonstrate the role of experiential learning in education.
  • To increase awareness about environmental sustainability in students starting from early stages in education.
  • To bridge the gap between acquired knowledge and behavioral actions concerning sustainability in the younger population.
  • To create a multinational community of people who take an active role in promoting environmental change.
  • To introduce environmental sustainability in the school curricula and make it a pillar of their education having a direct positive impact on the environment.
