MEDSHIFTGREEN

Cultivating Green Innovators: A Dynamic Approach to Smart,

Description

MEDSHIFTGREEN aims to support the green transition in the Mediterranean by integrating nature-based solutions, green technologies, and sustainability principles into higher education and vocational learning. Bringing together partners from Greece, Cyprus, Türkiye, and Lebanon, the project develops Green Labs, innovative training courses, Green Skills Bootcamps, and a Digital Hub to strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of students, educators, and other stakeholders. It also promotes collaboration between education, industry, public authorities, and communities, while supporting the development of policy frameworks that help embed sustainability and green skills into education and regional development.

Objectives

  • ‘Embed sustainability into Mediterranean higher education by integrating Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), green technologies, and environmental sustainability principles into existing educational programmes and curricula.
  • Establish Interactive Green Labs across Greece, Cyprus, Türkiye, and Lebanon, providing students and educators with practical, hands-on learning environments for testing and applying sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and implement Nature-Based Solutions curricula and Green Skills Bootcamps that combine theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world environmental challenges.
  • Strengthen the skills and capacities of students and educators by providing modern learning tools and innovative approaches for green and sustainability education.
  • Integrate AI and digital tools into sustainability education to enhance student engagement, support educators, and promote environmental innovation.
  • Improve the employability and innovation potential of Mediterranean youth by equipping them with practical green, digital, and sustainability-related skills that respond to emerging environmental and labour-market needs.
  • Strengthen the institutional capacity of universities and other education stakeholders to deliver high-quality and innovative sustainability education.
  • Support the institutionalisation of sustainable learning through the development of policy recommendations and stronger cooperation among education institutions, policymakers, industry, NGOs, and other regional stakeholders.
