Learning Ventures for Climate Justice – LEVERS

Description

LEVERS is a community initiative dedicated to collective climate action and promoting equitable learning through practical engagement. Recognizing the complex challenges of the climate crisis, LEVERS emphasizes the need for education that provides scientific knowledge and fosters the skills necessary for learners to become proactive, resilient thinkers. In a society marked by polarization and distrust of science, the initiative seeks to engage diverse audiences with varying viewpoints on environmental issues, advocating for connected, system-wide responses that prioritize social justice and care. By exploring the potential of local learning ecosystems, LEVERS collaborates with stakeholders across formal, non-formal, and informal education sectors in nine European regions through its Learning Ventures. These Learning Ventures aim to develop systemic thinking and critical approaches to climate justice projects, creating meaningful learning experiences and fostering community climate engagement.

Objectives

  1. 1Develop a Holistic Open Schooling Learning Framework for lifelong Science Learning informed by best practice in open schooling approaches and education for climate justice
  2. Foster networking, sharing, and application of science and technology research through the development of Learning Ventures
  3. Co-Design Localized Learning Interventions Using Climate Justice to activate and engage citizens and communities accross Europe
  4. Facilitate Mentoring and Collaboration between educators, communities of learners, and science and technology R+I and industry stakeholders, for improved science education outcomes
  5. Share Learnings and Advocate for Policy Adoption
  6. Scale and Sustain Collaborative Efforts of f Learning Ventures towards innovative, open science education beyond the lifetime of the LEVERS project
