Children’s life quality: participation, recreation and play – CICADA

Description

The project “Children’s life quality: participation, recreation and play – CICADA” is financed by the European Commission, through funds granted by the National Erasmus + Education and Training Key Action 2 (KA2) – Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices (Strategic Partnerships for school education) with reference number  2019-1-CY01-KA201-058385

CICADA draws on the principles of Article 31 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which, in short, posits that children and young people have the right to play, rest and participate in cultural and recreational activities. These conditions are essential to children’s health and wellbeing; they contribute to the development of ‘creativity, imagination, self-confidence, self-efficacy, as well as physical, social, cognitive and emotional strength and skills [and] all aspects of learning’ (Committee on the Rights of the Child 2013). To this end, the project aims to map children’s and young people’s quality of life and to inform policy about existing and emerging good practices, challenges and opportunities across the partner countries. CICADA will explore children’s options and choices regarding leisure, cultural, artistic and play activities, examine the environmental, educational, social and cultural factors that impact their decision making and illuminate enablers or hindrances to children’s well-being and quality of life.

Objectives

The project aims to develop training packages for teachers, consisting of learning material, activities, tools and content (based on the ECVET framework). The training package will be augmented by an online learning platform and a mobile application which will utilize multiple online learning components and interactive tools such as online training modules, multimedia content, communication and collaboration tools, mini games and a resource bank. In addition CICADA will develop a Training and Policy Adaptation Guide in the form of an Interactive eBook that will provide specific guidelines to enable the integration and alignment of the project’s outputs with the mission and the context of key stakeholders organizations.
