MIraGE works to increase the swift access and integration of third-country nationals into the labour market of their European host countries. MIraGE is a 3-year project co-funded by the European Union (Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund), run by 12 partners from 8 European countries (Bulgaria, Sweden, Italy, France, Austria, Cyprus, Romania, Hungary). Despite the great potential that migrants can represent for European economies, there are several issues that must be addressed. In all Members States, some employers appreciate the potential of TCNs while others tend not to engage with the foreign labourers due to a lack of information regarding their employability, their skills and the legal procedures which must be followed in order to recruit them. At the same time, migrants are not fully aware of the many professional opportunities available to them, or how to access them. This is especially true of self-employment in host countries. In other countries, the legal framework, policy decision-making and insufficient language skills of the third-country nationals significantly impede their integration into the labour market.
