Communication Officer Job Description

CSI is looking to hire a competent Communication Officer to join our team. The Communication Officer will work on specific projects with specific communication needs, and will work to develop, support, and implement communication activities and material for our internal and external audiences including staff, business partners, and stakeholders. Additionally, the Communication Officer will work on our communication strategy, create productive relationships with media organizations across the spectrum, write and disseminate publicity material, respond to inquiries from the public and media, manage our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Quality of Life Index campaigns, and coordinate promotional and dissemination events.

A Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience as a Communication Officer or equivalent experience in a similar role is strongly desired.

Requirements & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, marketing, journalism, or related field
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience in a communication role
  • Basic knowledge of desktop publishing software (InDesign/Photoshop)
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Greek
  • Excellent digital and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Experience of handling complex communication campaigns
  • Experience in a wide breadth of multi-channel communication
  • Experience of producing a range of marketing materials
  • Access to media and/or a wide network of media stakeholders
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Internal and external communication experience in the services industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms
  • A capable organiser, used to meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality
  • Ability to travel locally and abroad

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective communication activities for internal audience and external customers and stakeholders
  • Ensure consistency across all platforms and channels in terms of branding, messaging, and frequency of postings
  • Build and manage a media network and handle media enquiries and create effective press releases to gain positive press coverage
  • Develop and deliver well-executed and effective campaigns
  • Develop working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists, and maintain a media database
  • Use project planning techniques to deliver projects and actively manage project budgets
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communication strategy based on our target audience
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s purpose, activities, and services, as well as specific needs pertaining to the EU-funded projects that the organization runs.
  • Optimize content for the website, digital newsletters, print publications and social networking sites
  • Respond to media inquiries, arrange interviews, and act as a spokesperson for the organization
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the brand, and coordinate publicity events as required
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics
  • Manage conflict as it arises throughout the various media platforms and escalate to management
